 An activity of communicative shopping role-play was organised on Wednesday (06/11/24) for the students of class VIII to help them to find out the profit, loss, cost price , selling price after deduction of discount and selling price including GST on an item while purchasing it and enhance their calculation and mental maths by practicing ,asking and saying how much things cost. Few students took on the role of shop assistants and few students were shoppers. The aim of the activity was to make the students understand the concept of discount and GST. The shoppers were able to save the most money possible by finding out the cost of each item on their shopping list and buying each item from the place where they are getting more discount. The shoppers ask the price of the items on their list to each shop assistant in turn, noting down the prices on their shopping list. Next, the shoppers compare the prices, went to the shops with the cheapest items to buy them. The shoppers then calculated the total amount of money they spent and write it on their list. When the students have finished, they swap roles and repeated the activity.
